Montclair leaders hope to get canceled A Line to city back on track – Inland Valley Daily Bulletin

At Monday’s council meeting in Montclair, [City Manager Edward] Starr called the SBCTA board’s decision “shortsighted.”
“The decision is one that’s going to have some very significant economic impacts to our community,” he said.
For years, Montclair officials had promoted easier access to Los Angeles for commuters as a selling point of the community.
The city has developed a master site plan for the Montclair Transit Center that Starr has called “central to every decision Montclair has made in the past 20 years.” The plan calls for 1,300 residential units, a parking garage that will hold about 1,600 vehicles and related amenities.

“I remain committed to getting this done. I view this as a temporary setback,” Councilmember Bill Ruh said by phone at Monday’s meeting. “Twenty years from now, the Gold Line (extension) will be up, operational and moving people.”
