Foothill Transit proposes changes to bus line to better serve Gold Line riders from east of Azusa

In response to the increased demand of Gold Line commuters coming from east of Azusa, Foothill Transit is proposing changes to its existing Montclair-to-Pasadena express bus Line 690 to provide Gold Line commuters an alternative way to connect to the Azusa Downtown Station without having to drive and park.

The proposed changes would:

  • Terminate the bus line at the Azusa Intermodal Transit Center (right next to the Azusa Downtown Gold Line Station)
  • Change the line from an express line to a local line (Foothill Transit is currently working on finalizing the new alignment)
  • Lower the base fare for this line to $1.25
  • Introduce round-trip service between Montclair and Azusa

Foothill Transit is seeking public comment on these proposed changes via email, mail, fax and a public meeting on June 11. More information can be found on the Foothill Transit website.

Hopefully Metro will respond in kind by increasing the Azusa Gold Line train arrivals to every 6 minutes instead of every 12, by allowing all trains to continue past the Sierra Madre station. Already, the every-other-train system gets uncomfortably full on the east track Azusa-bound cars in the afternoon.

A stop in Glendora would be very helpful. Parking in the APU/Citrus and Azusa Downtown lots fills very early. A bus would help, especially if it ran frequently enough and stopped where we could park to take it.
