In this edition of Metro Motion, Metro’s quarterly cable TV show, we visit Metro’s new bus maintenance facility in downtown Los Angeles – opening soon — and find out what’s so green about Division 13. (The answer: Plenty.)

We also respond to the question posed by many rail watchers who see construction on the Metro Foothill Gold Line and Metro Expo Line to Santa Monica reaching completion. With trains running back and forth on an almost daily basis the question everyone’s asking is: Why does is it take so long? (The answer: Safety.)

If speed is your thing, we have a piece on the growing need in our culture for faster travel and Metro’s newest entry in that category, the Silver Line Express bus. The new improved Silver Line travels from El Monte Station to downtown LA and south, past its former terminus at Harbor Gateway Transit Center and into San Pedro. What’s the secret weapon? (The ExpressLanes.)

With chill in the air, maybe it’s time to hop on the Red or Purple Line to Pershing Square for an outing to the annual ice skating rink, followed by a great cup of joe.

And finally, take a bike ride on the wild side to Tournament of Roses festivities. Getting there on the Metro Gold Line with your bike along is the best idea, according to Pasadena bike experts, but cruising the area afterward offers up plenty of fun and food and a convenient ride to both the big game and after-parade float viewing.
