Gold Line in the IE

Construction began in July on a $1.5 billion expansion of LA Metro’s rail system that will extend the Gold Line, which has been renamed the L Line, nine miles from Glendora to Pomona.

Lisa Levy Buch, spokeswoman for the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority, said the line will open in 2025.

“When we get to Pomona, people will be able to transfer between the San Bernardino Line of Metrolink and the Gold Line,” she said.

Levy Buch said the hope is to push the line three more miles to Montclair, but just $100 million of the $550 million needed is on hand.

If funds are secured by October, the segment will be added, she said, giving riders the opportunity to board in Montclair in 2028.
