After five years of design and construction, and more than 2.4 million work hours, the Foothill Gold Line from Pasadena to Azusa reached substantial completion this morning, on time and on budget. With this milestone reached, the project will now be turned over to Metro for pre-revenue service in the coming days. Pre-revenue service is an important period when Metro will continue to accept and commission new light rail vehicles, trains operators and local emergency responders, and educate the community about staying safe as the trains begin to run regularly through their communities. Metro expects to announce a start date for passenger service within 30 days of turn-over.
