For about the next five months, railroad crossings at both Glendora and Barranca avenues in Glendora will be fully closed as the next phase in the L Line, formerly the Gold Line, light-rail extension begins.

Kiewit-Parsons, the firm building the project, will have crews working on underground utilities, relocating existing freight track, installing two new sets of light-rail tracks, adding a safety and communication system, rebuilding the street and more.

The closure at Glendora Avenue begins Friday, Aug. 21, and will continue through Jan. 15, 2021, the Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority said in a news release. The main alternate routes will be on southbound and northbound Vermont Avenue. Ada Avenue and Route 66 also will serve as detour routes.

The closure at Barranca Avenue will start Tuesday, Aug. 25, and will go through Jan. 8, 2021. Both northbound and southbound Grand Avenue will serve as the main detour routes. Other nearby detour options include both eastbound and westbound Bennett Avenue and Foothill Boulevard.
